A:  The software cannot find the COMSCORE computer on the network.  There could be a number of reasons why this is the case. Check the following in order attempting to load Computer Score after each point has been checked:

  • Check the network cable at the back of the computer THEN
  • Check to see if the router and/or switch is turned on THEN
  • Check to see if the Networked Attached Storage (NAS) (if available) is tunred on and connected to the router and/or switch THEN
  • Check to see if the WorkGroup of all computers are set to WORKGROUP
  • Check that the IP Address is correct.  If you do not know how to do this, then contact your local computer technician.
  • If the above steps still do not work, contact your Computer Score support staff for further advice.

Computer Score recommends that an operator that is familiar with computer terminology is available before calling for support.

Q: My computer is slow! How do I make it faster?

A: There are many reasons why your computer could be running slow, all of which can be fixed by a local technician. The following are guides on what to check for as possible causes:

  1. Your computer may be at the end of it's service life, compare the specifications of this computer to your home computer. Make sure that you have adequate RAM istalled, as a general rule Windows XP should have atleast 512 MB and VISTA and Windows 7 should have atleast 2GB worth of RAM.
  2. Check your anti-virus settings. Some anti-virus software will scan every file type as part of it's Real Time Scan Protection. Make sure you set your anti-virus settings to scan only 'Recommended' File types AKA 'Risky' File types.
  3. Update your anti-virus with current virus definations then perform a full system scan. This procedure should be done while there is no bowling, allow for atleast 45 minutes of scanning for this to be completed.
  4. Perform a Database Close (refer to Operations Manual). Select a date roughly 6 months before the current date and select only 'Remove Completed Deposits'. A new prompt box will appear asking the operator to 'Optimize Deposit Numbering'. If the center does not have an external numbering system for deposits, the operator should select 'Yes' to this prompt box.

If the above remedies do not improve the speed of the compuer, contact Computer Score for further advise.
